📚 Wingspan Special Edition Overview

Wingspan Special Edition is a strategy card game about bird enthusiasts who build wildlife preserves and attract birds. The Special Edition includes the base game, two expansion packs (European Expansion and Oceania Expansion), the official soundtrack, and a Seasonal Decorative Pack with backgrounds and avatars.

You compete against up to four other players to create the best bird sanctuary. The game happens over four rounds where you take turns playing bird cards to one of three habitat types: forest, grassland, or wetland. When you play a bird card, you must pay the required food and eggs shown on the card.

The game uses over 170 birds from North America, with more added in the expansions. Every bird card shows accurate information including wingspan measurement, habitat preference, and diet. The birds are animated and include their actual recorded sounds from nature. Birds have special powers that activate when played or when you use their habitat action.

You collect food by selecting dice from the birdfeeder. You lay eggs by using certain habitat actions. You draw more bird cards to expand your options. Points come from the birds you play, eggs you collect, bonus cards you complete, and end-of-round goals. The person with the most points after four rounds wins.

The European Expansion introduces 81 new birds from European regions and new abilities like end-of-round powers. The Oceania Expansion adds nectar as a new food type from Australia and New Zealand. Nectar can substitute for other food types when paying costs. The Seasonal Decorative Pack contains seven themed backgrounds for visual customization.
