FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE – Digital Deluxe Edition is a complete remake of the second title in the FATAL FRAME (PROJECT ZERO) series. The story follows twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura, who wander into an abandoned village called Minakami Village, which is infested with vengeful spirits called wraiths. Mio tries to find Mayu and escape, but in doing so, she retraces the tragic events of the past.

The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, with new graphics, 3D spatial audio, updated controls, and new gameplay systems. Character textures and clothing have been rebuilt in high detail. Minakami Village has been recreated with detailed light and shadow effects. New side stories and new areas have also been added to expand the story.

The main weapon in the game is the Camera Obscura, a device that can capture and seal away spirits. New Camera Obscura features include Focus, Zoom, and Filter Switching. Filters serve useful functions in both combat and village exploration. A new mechanic called Holding Hands with Mayu has also been introduced, allowing players to feel the bond between the sisters. A new Photo Mode is available to take in-game photos using frames, stickers, and visual effects. The game also includes a brand-new ending featuring the song “Utsushie” composed by Tsuki Amano. Players can use Broken Spirit Stones to discover the past of various characters through new side stories.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the full game, a Digital Art Book, a Digital Soundtrack, Lace Gloves (White and Black), Japanese Gothic costumes for both sisters (Left Wing and Right Wing variants), and a Deluxe Charm.
