Within of Static – Northgate Mall is the second episode in the episodic first-person psychological horror anthology series called Within of Static. The series is inspired by grounded, real human fear, and each episode tells a self-contained story based on accounts from people who claim to have lived through such experiences.

In this episode, the player takes on the role of Dylan Miller, a night security guard working a late shift at a partially closed shopping mall called Northgate Mall. The job begins as a routine shift: monitoring security cameras, staying in contact with the central office, and keeping the place quiet until morning. As the night goes on, small irregularities begin to appear, including strange noises, missing signals, and figures that should not be there. Dylan is slowly forced to question what is truly happening inside the mall.

Within of Static – Northgate Mall is a single-player walking simulator with a strong focus on environmental storytelling and slow tension. The player explores the mall, interacts with objects, and communicates with others using in-game devices. A notable feature is Microphone Interaction, where the player’s real voice may play a role in the game. NPC interactions are handled via text messages on an in-game phone. The visual style of the game is inspired by VHS recordings, giving it a retro, grainy look. The game is designed to be played in one sitting.

It is in the Adventure, Casual, and Indie categories. It has 10 Steam Achievements and supports 5 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazil).
