THIEF’S SHELTER is a psychological adventure game set in Birmingham, England. The story follows Detective James as he investigates Highburn Mansion. The game takes place in a country where police corruption is widespread and street gangs cause constant trouble across the nation.

The Red Order plays a central role in the story. This organisation has existed for centuries and was once known for fighting crime. Now it operates as a major provider of health products in England. Its true intentions are unclear, and the game slowly pulls back the layers around it.

Detective James suffers from artificial dementia, which directly affects how the game plays. Players must fight against his deteriorating mental state. Hallucinations appear, and repressed memories force their way to the surface. The line between what is real and what is imagined becomes harder to see as the investigation continues.

Highburn Mansion is not a static location. It distorts and shifts as the player moves further into the investigation. Players search for clues and use investigative tools to uncover secrets that are hidden in plain sight. The mansion itself seems to respond to James’ mental condition.

One of the central questions in the game is whether something supernatural exists inside the mansion. It is never made immediately obvious. The game keeps this tension alive by tying the strange events closely to James’ psychological state. Players are left to question whether the mansion is truly haunted or whether James is simply losing his grip on reality.
