The Persistence Enhanced challenges players to survive as a clone of security officer Zimri Eder on a doomed deep space colony starship. The ship is overrun with horrific aberrations, and you are the last survivor. Your mission is to restore the ship’s functionality and find a way back to Earth. The game presents an ever-changing labyrinth due to a malfunction in the ship’s macrostructure, causing the layout of the decks to shift periodically. This ensures that every expedition into The Persistence is disorienting. Players must use darkness and cover to avoid being overwhelmed by the ship’s deadly inhabitants. Stealthy movement and striking from the shadows are crucial, along with deflecting attacks using a personal shield.

In The Persistence Enhanced, players can explore, unlock, and upgrade by harvesting DNA material to improve health and defensive capabilities. Additionally, looting materials and schematics allows for weapon upgrades and suit customizations with perks. If Zimri dies, her consciousness is uploaded into a new cloned body, retaining upgraded stats, suits, and weapon schematics for the next attempt.

The game also features asymmetric multiplayer, allowing up to two players to connect a phone or tablet running iOS or Android to the game. This enables them to take control of ‘Solex,’ the ship’s engineering system, adding a unique cooperative element to the gameplay. Motion controls are not supported for VR owners.
