SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest is a standalone expansion to the RTS/RPG hybrid SpellForce 3. The game is set three years after the Purity Wars, with Nortander on the brink of a new era. Players take on the role of a disgraced General summoned back by the Queen to tackle a multi-front war. The storyline involves a hatemonger threatening the Dwarven realm and a mysterious cult of Dark Elves harvesting souls for unknown purposes.

The game features a story mode with around 20 hours of content, offering players a dark and enthralling narrative. Players can build distinct heroes using various options and combinations on a skill tree. The RTS gameplay has been reworked to a sector-based system, focusing on global resource distribution and unique faction mechanics. This allows players to lead their armies to victory using unique mechanics of their army units.

SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest includes five factions: Humans, Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, and Dark Elves. Each faction has two unique heroes that complement individual play styles. Flying units introduce advanced tactics to the gameplay. The game supports full gamepad controls and features an epic fantasy soundtrack along with top-down graphics.

The expansion introduces new factions, Dwarves and Dark Elves, and overhauled UI for improved readability. A modern multiplayer lobby facilitates easier matchmaking and ranked play.
