Galactic Civilizations IV is a space 4X grand strategy game where the player takes command of a civilisation that has just achieved faster-than-light travel. The game is the newest entry in the award-winning Galactic Civilizations series. As the leader of a fledgling interstellar species, the player must guide their people to develop new planets, build starships, form alliances, and fight wars to survive in a hostile universe.

The game uses a Core World and Colony split to manage how many planets a player controls. Tall play is possible by linking many Colonies into a small number of Core Worlds, which greatly increases their resource output. Players who prefer a wide playstyle can manually improve and develop many lower-class planets instead. Setup options allow games to last less than an hour or for months, depending on what the player wants.

The Ship Designer is a feature that allows players to design and customise their own interstellar spacecraft. Players can select from options for hulls, weapons, and engines to build a fleet that fits their approach. Galactic Civilizations IV also includes AlienGPT, which is a tool that uses AI to let players describe their civilisation’s characteristics and preferences. The AI then generates lore, diplomatic dialogues, starship selections, and ambassador portraits based on those inputs.

The game has an in-game storyteller that works alongside a sophisticated AI strategist. The AI opponents follow their own agendas and act on them using their own intelligence during gameplay. Galaxies are procedurally generated, meaning the map and events are different in every new game. The game also includes various galactic events and rival civilisations that appear during a playthrough.

There are multiple ways to win in Galactic Civilizations IV. A player can conquer rivals by military force, or win by spreading cultural influence across the galaxy. Diplomatic victory is also possible by uniting rivals under one’s leadership, and a Prestige Victory can be earned by completing difficult Galactic Challenges. The game supports both single-player and online multiplayer, including online PvP and online co-op, and it also supports cross-platform multiplayer.

⚙️ Installation Instructions
