FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves is a 2D fighting PC game and a new entry in the Fatal Fury series, which first began in 1991. The previous entry in the series, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, was released in 1999. FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves arrives 26 years after that, bringing the franchise back with a new look and new mechanics.

The game is set in South Town and features a starting roster of 22 characters. This includes 17 characters available in the base game, plus five more added via Season Pass 1 — Andy Bogard, Ken, Joe Higashi, Chun-Li, and Mr. Big. A second season pass adds further characters including Kim Jae Hoon and Nightmare Geese, with more to follow.

A key part of the gameplay is the REV System, a new combat mechanic. Players can use REV Arts, REV Accel, and REV Blows to perform strong attacks. The REV Meter builds up as these are used, and if it overheats, the player can no longer use REV actions for a short time.

The game has two control options. Arcade Style uses precise technical inputs for experienced players, while Smart Style allows special moves and combos using simpler directional inputs and single button presses.

FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves also includes a single-player RPG mode called Episodes of South Town. In this mode, players fight opponents under various conditions, earn experience points, level up their fighter, and build a set of skills.

The game supports online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer, and is available in both single-player and online modes.
