Shining Resonance Refrain is a role-playing game where you play as Yuma Ilvern, a young man who carries the soul of the Shining Dragon inside him. The Empire wants to use this power for their own goals, so they captured Yuma. His story begins when Sonia, the princess of Astoria, helps free him and asks for his help.

Dragons were believed to be gone from the land for a long time. Because Yuma can transform into the Shining Dragon, he became a target for the Empire. Sonia works with a group called the Dragoneers to fight back against the Empire’s control over Astoria, and Yuma becomes a key part of that fight.

The game includes a special mode called Refrain Mode. In the original Japanese release, Imperial Princess Excella and Dragonslayer Jinas could not be played as party members. Refrain Mode changes that by letting both characters join your group, which adds a new side to the story that was not possible before.

The developers suggest saving Refrain Mode for a second playthrough. This is because playing it too early could spoil parts of the main story. Waiting until you finish the game once means you can enjoy the new content without ruining key story moments.

This remaster also includes all extra cosmetic items that were released separately before. Side content that was once additional is now part of the base game. Players get a more complete version of the game without needing to look for extra downloads or separate releases.
