Monster Train 2: Deluxe edition is a deckbuilding strategy game where you defend Hell against Titans who have invaded Heaven. The Deluxe edition includes the base game plus the official soundtrack and a digital compendium. Angels and demons form an unlikely alliance to fight the Titans before they destroy everything.

You command five clans, with every clan having unique units, spells, and strategies. Combat happens on a vertical three-floor train where you place defenders on different levels to protect the Pyre at the top. Enemies climb from the bottom trying to reach and destroy your Pyre. You build decks using clan cards and upgrade them during runs.

The game introduces Room Cards and Equipment Cards as new mechanics. Room Cards provide permanent bonuses to specific floors of your train, while Equipment Cards attach to units to give them special abilities and stat improvements. You also visit the Covenant Outpost between runs, which serves as a hub for unlocking features and advancing the story.

Pyre Hearts add unique modifiers to runs. Every heart changes how gameplay works and unlocking them progresses the narrative. Dimensional Challenges offer special scenarios with custom rules and cosmetic rewards. You can customize your train’s appearance with unlockable parts.

The game includes Daily Challenges where you compete on global rankings using modified rules. Endless Mode tests how long you can survive against increasingly difficult enemies. Celestial Alcoves are random events featuring crossover content from other indie games. The improved Logbook tracks enemy information, collectibles, and lets you compare stats with friends.
