📚 Salt and Sacrifice Overview

Salt and Sacrifice is a 2D side-scrolling action RPG where the player takes on the role of a Marked Inquisitor, a condemned criminal who is sent into the western frontier to hunt and destroy rogue Mages. The game is a sequel to the 2016 Soulslike Salt and Sanctuary and is set in the same dark fantasy kingdom. A once-peaceful kingdom is now overrun by Mages described as merciless embodiments of elemental chaos, and the Marked Inquisitors are the condemned force mobilised to stop them.

The core loop of the game is built around Mage Hunts. When a Mage is spotted in an area, a hunt begins and the player must pursue the Mage across the map as it flees and summons hostile creatures to fight back. Mages in the game represent the power of six elements, and every mage uses either one element alone or a combination of two. The Electromancer, for example, uses Fire and Light, while Pyromancers use only Fire. Killing a Mage and its summoned creatures drops materials made from their otherworldly flesh and bones.

These materials are used to build weapons, armour, and charms tied to the type of Mage defeated. The game has Runic Arts, which the Steam page describes as safe manipulations of the corrupt magic that Mages wield. Weapons scale up to Class 5 in the in-game skill tree. Mage display trophies earned from completed hunts can be placed inside the player’s tent at Pardoner’s Vale, the game’s main hub location.

The game supports full online co-op for two players, drop-in quickplay co-op, and a separate PvP system built around six factions. The Dawnlight Cooperators faction helps other Inquisitors defeat Mages using a Pale Candle to find a host. The Shroud Alliance uses a Page of Curses to invade and kill other players’ Inquisitors. The Oathbound Watchers and Sheriff Inquisitors both serve a protective role, being summoned to defend hosts against invaders using the Oathwrit Amulet and Tealfeather Amulet respectively. The game also supports shared and split-screen co-op and PvP locally, as well as cross-platform multiplayer.

⚙️ Installation Instructions

4. After Download Completed, Open the Game folder.
5. Double-click on the Setup.exe file.
6. You may need to provide administrator permissions for the installation to proceed. If asked, click Yes to continue.

If you get any missing dll errors or the game is not launching, then Download Redist File and install all programs available in the "Redist" folder.
