Far Cry 6 – Ultimate Edition is a first-person shooter set on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, where the player takes the role of Dani Rojas, a local guerrilla fighter working to bring down dictator Antón Castillo. Antón is played by actor Giancarlo Esposito and is intent on restoring Yara to its former state by any means, with his son Diego following in his footsteps. Dani can be played as either a male or female character, selected at the start of the game. The full campaign can be played solo or in two-player co-op.

The island of Yara is the largest open area in the Far Cry series to date, covering jungles, beaches, and the capital city of Esperanza. Players can travel across Yara on foot, on horseback, in boats, in aircraft, and on Jet Skis. Dani uses Resolver weapons, which are improvised firearms built from scavenged materials, along with Supremo backpacks that each carry a unique special ability. Depleted Uranium collected near anti-aircraft cannons can be spent to unlock new Resolver weapons and Supremo backpacks from shops across Yara.

Animal companions called Amigos fight alongside Dani in the field. Guapo is a Hawaiian shirt-wearing crocodile who can revive himself after being downed in combat. Chorizo is a disabled Dachshund who distracts enemies. Chicharrón is a former cockfighting rooster. Other Amigos include Oluso, a legendary jaguar, and K-9000, a robotic pitbull. Seven Supremo backpacks are available in total, with five bought using Uranium, one given at the start, and one unlocked by completing a side mission called Triada Blessings.

After the main story is completed, Insurgencies become available where one or two provinces have been retaken by Castillo’s forces and must be cleared out again. There are also four post-launch Special Operations added as free content updates, along with a New Game Plus option, an extra-hard difficulty mode, and four additional loadout slots.

The Ultimate Edition includes the base game, the Season Pass, and the Ultimate Pack. The Season Pass contains three DLC episodes — Vaas: Insanity, Pagan: Control, and Joseph: Collapse — in which players control the villains Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min, and Joseph Seed, all voiced by their original actors. The Ultimate Pack contains three item packs: the Jungle Expedition Pack, the Croc Hunter Pack, and the Vice Pack, which include extra outfits, weapons, a vehicle, and cosmetic items.
