Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids is a PC game created by Julian Gollop, who is also known for making X-COM. The game puts players in control of Chip, a young inventor, and his robo-cat named Clawz. Together, they must stop alien creatures called the Brainioids from keeping Earth’s stolen Brainium crystals inside their Grav Spheres.

The Brainioids have invaded Earth and taken all the Brainium crystals. Chip and Clawz must fight their way from one Grav Sphere to the next, going all the way up to the Brainioid Mothership. The story is told in a humorous campaign with side missions that add extra challenge for players who want more.

Players can switch between two views during the game. In the third-person view, you fight directly in large-scale battles alongside your units. In the Command View, you manage your army from above, placing buildings and giving orders to your troops. Both views work together, and knowing when to use each one is important.

You can build weapons, vehicles, and structures to grow your forces against the Brainioids. The game also features major enemy commanders who test your base and minion management skills in big confrontations. These battles require you to handle both your army and your base at the same time.

Multiplayer is a strong part of this game. Two players can sit together for couch co-op and combine their tactics. Online, players can compete in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. There is also a split-screen 1v1 option for those who want to compete locally against a friend.
