📚 Scars Above Overview

Scars Above is a sci-fi third-person action-adventure shooter set in a mysterious alien environment. The game begins with the appearance of a colossal alien structure named ‘The Metahedron’ in Earth’s orbit. The Sentient Contact Assessment and Response team (SCAR), composed of scientists and engineers, is dispatched to investigate. However, the Metahedron transports them to an unknown extrasolar planet, setting the stage for the adventure.

Players assume the role of Dr. Kate Ward, a member of SCAR, who finds herself alone and disoriented in a hostile environment. As an astronaut and scientist, Kate is determined to survive and uncover the mystery of her team’s whereabouts. The gameplay involves using a mix of ranged weapons, devices, consumables, and melee attacks. Players must manage stamina while running, dodging, and exploiting enemy weak points.

The game encourages players to combine elemental attacks to overcome obstacles and craft items and gadgets to face numerous threats. The alien planet features various biomes, such as marshlands, freezing wastelands, and underground caverns, each presenting unique enemies, secrets, and environmental hazards. These areas hint at an ancient yet advanced civilization that has mysteriously vanished.

Kate’s scientific background is crucial as players scan artifacts, materials, and creatures to learn about their properties and weaknesses. Conducting analysis allows players to craft new gadgets and weapons while unlocking abilities in the Xenobiology and Engineering trees.
