FINAL FANTASY XVI: Complete Edition is the first fully action-based RPG in the main Final Fantasy series. The story follows Clive Rosfield, a warrior who is the First Shield of Rosaria. His main duty is to protect his younger brother Joshua, who is the Dominant of the Phoenix. After a great tragedy strikes, Clive sets out to take revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a dark and mysterious entity that spreads destruction.

The Complete Edition includes the base game along with two DLC packs — “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide.” In Echoes of the Fallen, Clive investigates strange dark crystals on the black market, which lead him to a forgotten tower called the Sagespire. In The Rising Tide, Clive travels to Mysidia, a hidden land, to rescue the Dominant of Leviathan, the lost Eikon of Water. Both DLC packs also include special bonus weapons and music tracks for the in-game hideaway.

The combat in FINAL FANTASY XVI is real-time and action-based. Clive can use swordplay along with powerful Eikonic abilities taken from multiple Eikons. Players can upgrade these abilities as they progress, or let the game handle upgrades automatically. Two difficulty options are available — Story-focused mode, where Clive can dodge some attacks on his own and combos are simpler to do, and Action-focused mode, where the player has full manual control over all actions.

Large-scale Eikon vs. Eikon battles take place when rival Dominants face each other. These titan clashes are a major visual highlight of the game. The game is rated M for Mature and contains violence, blood, and strong language. It supports single-player only and includes Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, Steam Cloud, and captions. The game also has HDR support for better visual quality on supported monitors.
