Mai: Child of Ages is a single-player action-adventure PC game. The player controls a young girl named Mai, who travels across time to find her true identity and to learn about the mysterious creatures that have disturbed the balance of the universe.

The story takes place after the Last Great War. Mai and her Grandfather try to uncover the secrets of a broken world. A Sacred Plant helps Mai move between the past and the future. An enigmatic figure guides Mai and teaches her to use a powerful relic called the Uroboro Stone.

The game has a Metroidvania-style structure. As Mai grows from a child to a teenager, her powers and abilities also increase. The gameplay shifts between precision platforming and hack and slash combat, depending on the time period being visited. Players can dodge, defend, and attack using both melee and ranged moves. The Uroboro Stone can freeze objects and also unlock powerful new forms as the game advances.

Mai can use the Uroboro Stone to manipulate time and alter past events. As a child, she can use mystical plants to move across the environment and clear obstacles. These are time-based puzzles that require careful thinking.

Mai: Child of Ages offers over 20 hours of gameplay. Players can visit ancient caves, abandoned factories, and underwater areas. Hidden clues help reveal what happened to humanity. A co-op mode allows a second player to take control of enemies and help in battle. A journal system lets players build new weapons and tools to improve Mai’s abilities.
